Hello Friends,
Have you ever wanted a new life?
If you would like a new life, let me quickly ask you a few
questions about your spiritual health.
If you were to die today are you sure you would go to
heaven? Would you like to be sure of your eternal
destiny? If you were to be asked by God today: "Why
should I let you into heaven?" what would you say?
A lot folks, if not most, are not sure about going to heaven, but they would like to be sure.
A lot of people don't know what they would say to God, but after a moment to think about it,
most people compare themselves to other people and say: "I am not as bad as other people, no
one is perfect, I am trying my best, my good works and/or love for God will earn heaven."
But listen to this from the Bible in Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God
is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You see the problem? The payment for trying to earn God's favor by works is death.
You see the solution? The gift of God's favor for eternity is the person and work of Jesus who
died out of love for sinners on the cross.
Now how do you get this gift, this grace, of God's love for lost sinners?
First confess in prayer to God your heavenly Father that you are a weak sinner in need of
forgiveness and a new life.
Second, turn away (repent) from your love of yourself, your self reliance, and your selfish ways
to trusting in Jesus as Lord and Savior. Believe in the love of God given for you in the gift of
Jesus and pray to receive and rest by faith in the sinless record Jesus provided for you, in
your place, before God.
Now if you have been given a new life, new heart, new record, new desire, and new direction
by faith in Jesus your Lord, then go live like it. You can live like a child of God by praying and
reading your Bible everyday. By faith you can join the fellowship of believers in a Bible
believing church, worshiping Him, growing in the likeness of Jesus, and being a witness for
your Savior.
Thank you for visiting the website of Bethany Orthodox Presbyterian Church. We at
Bethany (the house of the afflicted one) have been standing on the truth (orthodoxy) of
the inspired and infallible Word of God, the Bible, since 1936.
"What does the Bible say?" is our basic question. Not what religion, the church,
tradition, or man says, but "What does the Bible say?"
If you can, please come visit us this Sunday.
Regards,
Pastor Mark Holler
